thankful november #6.

via

Today, I'm thankful for my right to vote. Even though I think it's blatantly stupid that women were once not allowed to vote (I might be somewhat of a feminist), I'm glad I can today, not just as a woman, but as a person, too. Happy Election Day!

details of our christmas tree last year.

I've been listening to Christmas music since September. It's the real deal. Today, I'm grateful for Christmas music, since I listened to it all day at work.

When I was younger, my mom cooked us dinner every night. And it was awesome. I remember her cutting vegetables on the counter, or standing in front of the stove waiting for something to boil. I wanted to be just like her. So I started cooking with her. Not too much, and not too often, but occasionally, I would. She taught me everything she could, and I loved it.

Now that I'm a wife, I cook dinner for my husband (most nights). And when I have kids, I want them to remember me cooking in the kitchen every night to feed their little bellies. It's one of the most fond memories I have of my mom. And the smells! Mmmm.

Yesterday, I was grateful for the ability to cook, and for my knowledge I have of how to cook. Because yesterday, I cooked Beef and Barley Soup, and realized it was the very first meal I cooked (ever) that was made with cow meat that wasn't ground beef. So, I was kind of proud of myself.

thankful november #3.

Yesterday, being Saturday, I was thankful for Saturdays spent with my husband. We both have every single Saturday off, and have for more than a year now. I realize that for a lot of married couples, one or both of the people have to work Saturdays (and sometimes Sundays). I feel so blessed knowing that we can look forward to a whole day spent together at the end of the week.

Yesterday we slept in until about 10:00 am, so I'm thankful for lazy Saturdays, too.

thankful november #2.

photo taken in the summer of 2011.

I'm thankful for my feet.

That may sound silly, but let me explain. I had a dream last night that involved me getting both of my feet cut off, and having them surgically replaced with a man's feet. They felt weird, and they were ugly, and to be completely honest, I was in a kind of shock when I woke up this morning. I'm glad my feet are mine, even if I do have my mom's ugly pinky toes.

So there. I'm thankful for my feet.

thankful november #1.

I've seen the hashtag #thankfulnovember floating around twitter, and I thought I would take advantage of it and make a list of the things I'm thankful for this month, since Thanksgiving is in just three short weeks.

The number one thing I'm thankful for is this handsome man. He is my world. He takes care of me, and cares about me like no other person in the world. Just tonight, in between his night classes, he came home and did the dishes for me so I could make dinner. And just like that, went back to class. He opens doors for me, tells me I'm pretty, and scratches my back whenever I ask (which is a lot). Zac is the man, and I love him.

Oh, and if you look at the word "thankful" long enough, it starts to look like a made up word. Thankful.
